The Cyprus Institute offers financial support to outstanding candidates based on academic merit and a desire to pursue their Doctoral studies at the Cyprus Institute. The financial support takes the form of a scholarship, assistantship or work-study.
The Cyprus Institute offers a number of scholarships to prospective candidates for covering, in whole or partly, the tuition and other fees and living expenses, subject to merit and availability of funds in accordance with well-established practices for doctoral candidates in Europe and the USA.
The Cyprus Institute offers Graduate Research Assistantships based on merit, subject to availability of CyI funds, the correspondence between the research projects of the Institute and faculty, and the interests and abilities of the candidates. Graduate Research Assistantships are offered for the nine-month academic year, a three-month summer appointment, or for twelve months. They are renewable based on the candidates’ performance and achievement in their research project and studies, and the available funding opportunities of the research groups. Assistantships are reviewed periodically. Candidates within this scheme are appointed as Graduate Research Assistants under a 50% of full time employment - or equivalent of 20 hours weekly - with a salary. Graduate Research Assistants are offered to join the Health Insurance. A Graduate Research Assistant is a member of research groups or units in one of the Institute’s Centers, working under a Supervisor. The position offers a close association with other faculty members and researchers, a very effective arrangement for doctoral study and professional training. Work on the candidates’ dissertation could be considered as part of the Research Assistant assignment.
The work-study scheme is designed to provide the opportunity to candidates who need financial assistance to be self-reliant and also gain valuable experience. Through this scheme, candidates undertake several administrative and operational tasks for The Cyprus Institute. The positions are offered on the basis of candidates’ abilities and availability of funds. Candidates within this scheme are appointed as Graduate Assistants under a 50% of full time employment - or equivalent of up to 20 hours weekly - with a respective salary. Graduate Assistants are offered to join the Health Insurance.
